Public 12-player lobbies remain the place to visit houses and show off a finished estate.

Use a private instance when public plots are taken, when you want to make money without someone standing on your collector, or when you are hosting a controlled tour. Use a public lobby when you want neighbors to copy pad order from. The game is online either way. It is not split-screen.

Why the sequel needs a quiet instance

Original Mega Mansion Tycoon ran 6-player servers. Mega Mansion 2 doubled that to 12. More neighbors means more tours and more contested plots. If every pad on the street is claimed, hopping public servers is the first fix. If you still cannot land an empty plot, open a free private server from the Roblox experience page or the in-game server list the way you would for any tycoon that ships complimentary privates.

Roblox’s catalog flag for paid VIP creation can read as disabled even while the studio copy says privates are free. Trust the live game description and the in-experience button you actually see. If a menu asks for Robux to create a VIP, you are in the paid Roblox VIP flow, not the complimentary tycoon private the description promises. Back out and look for the free private option on the experience.

What a private server is good for

Claiming a plot. Day one is easier when the street is empty. Follow Getting Started without racing twelve people to the last open pad.

Collector AFK. Auto Collect (630 Robux) is more honest when nobody parks on the giver. Pair it with the make money loop.

Classic 100%. Sequential pads are easier to see without cars blocking the camera. The Classic Mega Mansion route assumes you can walk every wing.

Friend tours. Invite people you actually want in the art room. Roleplay is calmer with a guest list than with a full 12-player chat.

Blueprint hunting on your own plot. You still need public visits to see other people’s rooms. A private instance only helps you sweep your house without interruption. Exact blueprint spawns stay unmapped on the blueprints page.

What a private server is not

It is not a second save. Autosave is per account. Rooms you buy in private are the same rooms you walk in public. It is not a way to skip pad prices. It is not a code redeem room. It does not unlock Cliff Mansion early. It does not replace the Wild Atelier group $5,000 — claim that from free rewards before you hide in private, so the bonus applies when you next join.

It is also not required. Plenty of players 100% Classic in public 12-player servers. Private is a convenience for plot access and AFK, not a badge requirement.

How to switch without losing the house

Leave through the Roblox menu. Rejoin public or private. Walk the collector first in the new instance, then look for the next unpurchased pad. Do not restart the house. Do not assume a missing pad means the private wipe — camera-check the last wing, then the garage roof. The controls page covers camera on phone and gamepad if a pad is hiding behind a sofa.

When to go back to public

Go public when the house is walkable and you want traffic. Tours, car screenshots, and copying a neighbor’s Classic order all need other players. If the free private button ever disappears in a patch, this page will say so. As of the 6 September 2026 place update, the official copy still lists complimentary private servers next to autosave and the group chat tag. Use them as a quiet plot, not as a second game.
